iHEART MEDIA IS LAUNCHING AN LGBT RADIO STATION IN PHILADELPHIA
iHeartMedia will debut Pride Radio Philly, the area’s first digital
radio station with programming devoted to the local lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender communities. The station will be heard on the
iHeart Radio app nationwide, and on Philadelphia radio.

Looking to turn watching YouTube videos into a more social experience, a
team from Google’s internal incubator, Area 120, has launched Uptime,
an app that lets you watch videos together with your friends. The app is
initially available only for iOS devices.
FORMER NETFLIX EXEC JOINS ASIA COMPETITOR iFLIX
Malaysian streaming video provider iflix has tapped Sean Carey, a former
Netflix executive, as its new chief content officer, the company said
in statement on Monday. Two-year
old iflix, which has 4.5 million customers, is hoping to be what
Netflix is in the United States to viewers in emerging markets, who
mainly use their phones to watch shows and movies.
AT&T BUDDIES UP WITH MARK WAHLBERG IN MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR CONTENT DEAL
The celebrity arms race between the cellphone companies is getting very
expensive. Mark Wahlberg has signed a massive eight-figure deal with
AT&T to be its new spokesperson and create original content for the
mobile network. Wahlberg’s deal is said to be above $10 million.
APPLE NEWS' FORMER MEDIA BOSS JOINS SNAPCHAT TO MANAGE DISCOVER
Donna Ogier, who oversaw media partnerships for Apple News until early
this year, has joined Snap to work on Snapchat’s Discover section.
Ogier’s new title is “global publishing manager” and she started at Snap
in February, according to her LinkedIn profile. A Snap spokesperson
confirmed the hire and says Ogier will report to former New York Post
President David Brinker, who joined Snap in October to run business
development for Snap’s content efforts.
DISNEY CEO'S WIFE NAMED DEAN OF USC ANNENBERG
Veteran journalist Willow Bay has been named the Dean of the USC
Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, TheWrap has learned.
The former co-anchor of ABC News’ “Good Morning America/Sunday” and senior editor of Huffington Post has served as director of the journalism school.
VIACOM INSTALLS ITS FIRST CHIEF DATA OFFICER
Viacom is looking to expand its data capabilities and to do so they need
someone to lead the charge across the company. The media giant
announced today that it has done just that naming Kern Schireson its
first Chief Data Officer.
WASHINGTON POST LENDS ITS PUBLISHING TECHNOLOGY TO TRONC
The Washington Post has signed an agreement to license its digital
publishing platform, Arc Publishing, to rival publisher Tronc, the
companies announced Monday.
The Post also said it has plans to open up the Arc platform to all
publishers via a self-service platform. Tronc said it will use the Arc
technology to help power its entire portfolio of digital properties,
beginning with the Los Angeles Times.

kind of content on our service because its more content and people click
on it, but that's crap. No-one in our community wants fake information.

Down a gray hallway is Viacom NEXT, a small virtual reality division
formed by Viacom executive Chaki Ng in October 2015. Ng hired 13 R&D
engineers from the video-game industry to work on virtual-reality
experiments, so that when the time comes, Viacom's VR strategy is solid.
But even Ng admits that VR is a risk.
