TIME INC'S VIANT SCCOPS UP AD TECH START UP ADELPHIC
Viant, a people-based advertising technology company, has signed an
agreement to acquire Adelphic, a company that provides a mobile-first,
cross-channel programmatic advertising platform. Adelphic’s self-service
media planning and execution tools, including its ability to reach
consumers across all screens and formats, will bolster Viant’s
people-based data and analytics offerings. The deal is expected to close
during the first quarter of 2017.

Time Inc. isn’t partnering directly with ABC or “Scandal”
showrunner-creator Shonda Rhimes on the aftershow. (Note that PEN is
officially calling it a “recap show,” rather than an “aftershow.”) But
the network obviously is supportive of any effort to drive more live
viewership in primetime. Time Inc. developed “Scandal Superfan Recap” as
a way to tap into the rabid TV fanaticism of its audience (especially
EW readers) and their extensive knowledge, said JJ Miller, executive

reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and revenue, and said
the sale of its core internet business to Verizon Communications Inc
should be completed in the second quarter, allaying some investor
concerns that the deal might collapse. The $4.8 billion Verizon
transaction had originally been expected to close in the first quarter
but was delayed by the disclosure of two major cyber breaches that
exposed information from more than a billion Yahoo accounts.

That’s how one shell-shocked staffer at the North Jersey Media Group reacted after new owner Gannett revealed
on Monday
that another 141 employees will be laid off this week. In September,
just two months after buying the privately held North Jersey Media
Group, which includes The Record of Bergen County, the state’s second
largest paper, Gannett said it was laying off 426 people from the
newsroom and sales departments but would allow 50 percent of those
workers to reapply for their jobs.

flipped a 33 percent stake in the company to Sprint at a stunning $600
million valuation, the company said. In return, the company, Tidal, will
make exclusive songs available to the wireless company’s 45 million
customers, both entities said.
VOX MEDIA INSTALLS CMO
As Vox Media looks to attract more marketers to its digital properties,
it’s beefing up its own marketing capabilities. The company has named
Lindsay Nelson, who had overseen Vox’s branded content business, as its
first chief marketing officer. Ms. Nelson will oversee a new marketing
division within Vox that encompasses branded content, the company’s
growing stable of advertising products, revenue streams

VOX MEDIA AND NBC'S 'TODAY' BUDDY UP FOR SPONSORED SERIES
NBC’s “Today” show, Vox Media and Campbell Soup have announced a
partnership to produce original branded videos that will live on
Today.com and Eater, Vox’s food and dining site. The series,
“Home-cooked, chef-made,” showcases Campbell’s products used both by
chefs and home cooks.
VERIZON CUTS 155 EMPLOYEES FROM ITS MOBILE STREAMER Go90
Verizon’s mobile streaming service Go09 is about to get a hard reset:
The company laid off 155 staffers late last week, with most affected
working out of the main Go90 office in San Jose, Calif. The streaming
service will now be rebuilt by the team that came over to the company
with Vessel.
RODALE LOOKS TO RAISE $4.6 MILLION
Rodale hopes to raise more than $4.6 million by selling off two
commercial buildings and a 10-acre parcel of land in Emmaus, Pa., and
said it will centralize employees at its main campus in the borough in
