Its an end of an era at Johnson Publishing as the company confirms that it has sold its flagship publication Ebony magazine to a Texas businessman. Johnson Publishing was built on the Ebony brand but that magazine has suffered over the past decade or so under past and mostly current leadership. Johnson Publishing has been downsizing over the past few years shuttering Jet Magazine and losing top staffers in the process. Last year
we hi-lited the many problems eating away at Johnson Publishing and yes we accused Chairwoman Linda Johnson Rice of dismantling and selling off her Father's legacy. Well this makes that all official as Johnson Publishing doesn't exist anymore, at least not without Ebony. Ebony magazine is now getting another shot at life and that's all that matters. Under its new owner, Ebony magazine will operate under a new company called Ebony Media Operations and will be lead by current Johnson Publishing operations chief Cheryl Mayberry McKissack.
