NEW CONDE NAST ENTRANCE 1 WORLD TRADE (Photo via Elisah Jacobs) |
3,400 editors, writers and advertising executives at 18 magazines from
Condé Nast will spend some of their day today packing out their share of the 2,800 moving crates at their new offices at 1 World Trade Center. Conde Nast has finally made the move, officially kicking off the start of an interesting transformation of downtown. Other companies like Time Inc will follow in 2015 when it moves into its new headquarters at 225 Liberty Street.
This morning, Charles Townsend, chief executive of Condé Nast, will
lead the employees, mostly executive and administrative workers, inside
the tower, past the discreet silver letters spelling out Condé Nast and
over to the elevators. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide spectacular
views. A
more formal ceremony marking the move may happen before the end of the
year. It will be February before the company is completely relocated to
Lower Manhattan.
