How To Send Tips To Mediawire
We love the media industry. In fact all our writers including our editor has worked in the media industry for some of the biggest companies. We love it so much that we always want to know what’s going on behind the doors of those fancy offices scattered across Manhattan and elsewhere. Did you see a well known media figure interviewing or meeting with someone in the upper echelons of the company you work for? Heard something about a possible new hire or closure of a product or division? Are layoffs about to happen? Want to share that info and more with us? Then you ca do so by simply sending any emails, documents etc directly to our editor here: [email protected] but keep in mind that sending it to this address is not 100% secure and your employer could probably see that you sent us emails. But if that’s OK by you then send it our way. But we don’t recommend it.
Would You Rather Send Us Information Via a Completely Secure Method?(Recommended) Then send it to our encrypted email address here: [email protected]
Please note that though our encrypted email address can receive emails from your regular (personal) email address, we recommend that you take a few seconds (its really quick) and set up a free encrypted email account with PROTONMAIL to ensure that all communication with us is completely secure. Not even the folks at ProtonMail can read your emails.
If you’re concerned that being a source for a story is a big risk, be sure to take precautions:
1- Know your risks. No form of communication is 100 percent safe from all observers. Make a plan about what you’ll do if the wrong person finds out you contacted us.
2- Do not contact us from your work computer, phone or other work issued devices. Your bosses can track your use of these devices. The same goes for your personal mobile phone, if you’ve ever installed apps from your employer — even if you later uninstalled them.
3- Use the same encrypted email service we do (RECOMMENDED). Create a new protonmail.com account — separate from your other email accounts and use it to write to us at [email protected]. As long as you write to our Protonmail address from your Protonmail address, only we or someone who knows your password can read your message. Read more about Protonmail HERE.
4- Do not contact us during work hours. You could get into trouble if your employer found out.
5- Do not tell others that you are a source, and do not contact us via social media or any other platforms outside of our encrypted ProtonMail account.
In some cases, we will need to know your identity so we can verify and authenticate the information you provide to us. Your identity will only be shared with our editor and no one else. We will do everything we can to protect your identity, but if you feel you must remain completely anonymous, we will ask you to provide us with sources or contacts who can corroborate the information you send us.
