Time Inc has been super bullish on Video, building up its video distribution network since 2013. That network has now expanded to include internet and video streaming giants like Yahoo, Hulu and entertainment/media company Zealot Networks. The deal calls for Time Inc videos to be distributed across the networks of these companies and in return, videos coming out of Hulu will be accessible to Time Inc while Editors across Yahoo's digital properties will have the freedom to embed Time Inc videos in their stories. Time Inc's video network is made up of some of the biggest names in e-commerce, Television, Publishing and Broadcasting. Current partners include Amazon/Amazon Video Shorts, CBS Local Digital
Media, Gannett/USA Today, Vessel’s Video Service and Nexstar
Broadcasting. For 2015 alone, Time Inc's video network generated over 1 billion streams.
“We believe powerful storytelling should be accessible to consumers everywhere,” said J.R. McCabe, senior vice president of Time Inc. Video. “This has informed our approach to creating a digital video network built on the foundation of our owned and operated sites. Today’s announcement underscores our plan to expand that network through creative collaborations with partners that believe in premium content.”
