Disney has shown it is not shy in paying for major media brands, buying pixar in 2006 for $7.4 billion, Marvel in 2009 for $4 billion and Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4 billion. Those moves have given Mickey Mouse plenty of company with a wide variety of intellectual property.

Viral news site Buzzfeed is so hot, Disney reportedly thought about bringing it into Mickey's house. However the pursuit stopped after Buzzfeed slapped a $1billion price tag on itself. That seems to be the popular asking price set by websites/apps looking to be acquired.
