Media CEOs love them some facebook & Myspace, but the Blackberry is a given

-MARTY As it turns out, some media CEOs like to chill out in the same place your teenage kids like to chill out too. So it is possible that some accounts on sites like Facebook and Myspace could be the accounts of some of media's power players pretending to be teenage boys and/or girls? Oh man! Wonder who else holds an account on these sites? "I may be the only human being on earth who's on MySpace under his own name and I am on Facebook," said Strauss Zelnick, chairman of Take-Two Interactive Software, the video game company behind Grand Theft Auto. Peter "Ross's Cousin" Levinsohn, head of News Corp's Fox Interactive Media, described such behavior as that of an "uber user" who is on both popular social network sites but uses them toward different ends. -SHOMARI HINES Former, BMG Music head Strauss "Call me Mr. Zelnick" Zelnick has taken control of video game producer Take-Two Interactive (T2i) and is already laying out plans for the company under his leadership, even if he did allegedly run another video game company in the ground before. Strauss, the guitar-playing chairman, admits he's looking to begin a new era at the tainted game factory, whose prime product is violence-prone "Grand Theft Auto." After leading a boardroom revolt late last week to oust Take-Two's management team, Zelnick spent the weekend spreading previews of his first steps for the company. "We need to learn about the company, and of course, we need to stabilize the company's operations at the corporate level," Zelnick told a CNBC interviewer. Variety & Zelnick Media brought out the media suits last week for a little chit chat

Variety and Zelnick Media hosted Time Warner's Jeff Bewkes and Viacom's Philippe Dauman Thursday for a conversation in Gotham about the digital media age. On hand were Variety president-publisher Charlie Koones, Strauss Zelnick and editor-in-chief and moderator Peter Bart . Also on hand was former Fox Interactive Chieftain Ross Levinsohn. Was he shopping something or just their for the hell of it?

Strauss Zelnick to run another game company into the ground??

-Shomari Hines Former 20th Century and BMG Music big shot Strauss Zelnick who infamously forced music legend Clive Davis out of Arista Records is said to be thisclose to taking the CEO seat at Take-Two Interactive Software. However Strauss was once CEO of another game production company called Crystal Dynamics which according to a commenter on CNNmoney.com's "The Browser" was such a total disaster that you almost never hear about that part of Zelnick's business past. Anyway the owners of the company seem to think Strauss would be a good choice to lead run the show. Investors reportedly responded in a positive manner when they got wind of the news. Maybe they should read this Wikipedia entry With 46 percent of Take Two's stock in hand, the hedge fund group has a comfortable stake in a company that has suffered a string of embarrassments over regulatory and governance violations. In addition to the management changes, the hedge fund group also is seeking to appoint a total of six board members. They'll present their nominees at Take-Two's March 23 board meeting. The slate includes media honcho Strauss Zelnick, Benjamin Feder, Jon Moses, Michael Dornemann and Michael James Sheresky.
