Newspapers Aggregated: Has young paperboy Jared Kushner joined the pack of vultures reportedly circling Long Island's Newsday?

The list of potential bidders for Tribune's Newsday is getting longer. Early out it was reported that Rupert Murdoch who seems to want to buy everything was interested in the paper, along with other prominent New York money bags like Cablevisions Chuck Dolan and New York Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman. Now comes word that New York Observer ruler Jared Kushner may have little tingle for the Newsday as well. Tribune is said to be looking for payout in the $500 million region for the paper but there is no word that the company has started to take bids.

In other newspaper news, The Wall Street Journal recently swallowed by News Corp, will go on sale in London taking on other business papers like Pearson's Financial Times. The Journal, with an initial print run of around 3,500 copies, will cost 250 pence, well above the 150 pence Financial Times cover price, but not out of line with the price of other non-UK papers sold in Britain. Yeah, like we didn't see this one coming. How long until an Australian version is born?

What's up with body parts washing up on Cablevision boss James Dolan's waterfront estate?

-SHOMARI HINES

Talk about close to home. You would think working around the estate of a wealthy media exec the only things you would fine are $100 bills blowing in the wind, jewelry or even the keys to the Enzo, you know shit rich people lose around the yard. Not so for a landscaper who was probably prepping the grounds for the summer season at Cablevision CEO James Dolan's estate.

"It does appear to be a lower extremity of a human body," said Nassau Homicide Squad Detective Sgt. Richard Laursen.

The leg, which was in a dark plastic bag and tied up with green gardeners' twine, appeared to be female and had pink toenail polish, sources said.

Green gardeners twine huh? Cops are said to be looking into whether or not the leg belongs to the torso of a woman found in Mamaroneck. We bet this will make an episode of Law & Order?

John Malone's New Challenge, Making Direct TV Hot

Published: Thursday, January 04, 2007

So John Malone took Rupert Murdoch's bait and settled with taking over Direct TV in exchange for his once threatening stake in News Corp. But the real challenge for the media investor is finding new content for the satellite giant, and maybe applying the technology that allows DTV subscribers to order a pay per view movie when they want instead of having to wait for a fucking start time. OK we went off track a bit right there. Anyway Malone may have found his answer in CableVision's Rainbow Media Holdings.

Liberty Media Chairman John Malone is in preliminary talks to acquire Cablevision's Rainbow Media Holdings, which houses movie channels AMC and WE. "They are talking," a senior executive close to Mr. Malone told Advertising Age. "It's the only suite of programming available to purchase. There are a lot of one-offs but there's nothing except Rainbow."

Sounds kinda boring but good luck with that Johnny.
