Dan Doctoroff, the deputy mayor under New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is leaving public life for private life to become President of the Mayor's media and financial firm Bloomber LP. With the announcement, it can be taken as a clue as to what Mike Bloomberg plans to do after he leaves office putting to rest any talk of a possible presidential bid. Well its not like anyone took would take him seriously anyway.

Bloomberg announced Doctoroff's resignation as deputy mayor for economic development and rebuilding, effective December 31, and said Doctoroff would take over in February as president of the news and financial information company that the mayor founded and continues to majority own

I hired Dan because he understood that recovery wasn't enough. We had to rebuild, revitalize and rejuvenate and recapture New York's standing as the world's most dynamic, exciting, innovative, prosperous city in the world. That job has never ended.

So is Dan now headed over to Bloomberg LP to do some rebuilding there? He is touted as a rebuilder.

At Bloomberg LP, Gas bags in bulk!

Was Mayor Bloomberg a corporate dick head when he was running his media company? Was he a woman/baby hater who punished his female employees for basically starting a family? Did he really ask a female employee if she was giving her boyfriend good oral sex? Is he giving his girlfriend Dianne Taylor good oral sex or vice versa? A lawsuit filed against the company the mayor founded, alleges the above. Well except the part where we asked if he is giving his girlfriend good oral sex of course.

According to the lawsuit filed against Bloomberg LP which the mayor swears he hasn't ran since 2001 but we all know he still secretly runs it through a network of yes-men, the company has a history of demoting or cutting the pay of its female employees who were out on maternity leave. Now this is not a lawsuit any company wants to deal with. So all you corporate dick heads out there, play your cards right and spear yourselves the embarrassment and bad press.
Neal Brickman, the lawyer who represented Ms. Garrison, said that he had handled at least 20 discrimination complaints against the company since 1997 and that the culture at Bloomberg L.P. condoned unequal treatment of women and other groups. Many of those complaints were settled out of court, he said.

Inside Hizzoner's media money machine

Mayor Mike Bloomberg came into his boat load of money, the old fashioned way, working for it. His story reads like the cliché script, where a young man gets canned from his job only to launch his own company which of course is met with many doubts only to grow into the monster it is today. Mike Bloomberg is perhaps one of the most humble billionaires around compared to other billionaires like the extremely flamboyant Donald Trump who isn't even in Bloomberg's big money circles. Fortune magazine takes a look at the man, the mayor and his money machine that is Bloomberg LP, the financial media company which was rumored to have been for sale more than a few times over the years.

We can't know, therefore, the final dimensions of this big life. But for the sake of competitive drama and the celebration of a unique business model, we can step back and take the measure of the money machine called Bloomberg LP, which stands as a monument to the founder's creativity and drive. Bloomberg LP is a private business, nearly 68 percent owned by Mike (which is what we'll usually call him to distinguish him from the enterprise). It is a Wall Street juggernaut that has pummeled competitors and changed the way financial information is provided to customers. The secret: a sharp focus on delivering an ever-improving product and backing it up with unremitting attention to customer service. The company has also been a mother lode for Mike. It gave him the wealth to run for mayor, would let him single-handedly fund a campaign for President if he chooses to run, and will pave his road to large-scale philanthropy.
