Evelyn Webster, a former Time Inc executive who was eased out and then landed at Guardian US as its interim CEO back in January, is now its permanent CEO. In addition to dropping the interim from her title, Ms Webster will also now oversee Guardian Australia. Before leaving Time Inc, Ms. Webster lead that company’s US operations for its vast portfolio of magazines. She was a rising star at the magazine publisher to the point where we even went ahead and dubbed her the heir apparent to then CEO Joe Ripp. With all that Time Inc has been through during her time and since she’s left, including its recent sale to Meredith Corp we are sure Ms. Webster is feeling right at home at The Guardian.
Said Guardian Group CEO David Pemsel:
“Thanks to Evelyn’s leadership, Guardian US is growing well and on track,” said Pemsel in a statement. “Her passion for results and innovation, and her extensive experience in global media roles, will be fantastic assets as we position the Guardian for long-term growth in the US and Australia, two of the world’s most dynamic media markets.”
