Jim Roberts, formerly of New York Times and the former digital editor of Reuters is joining streaming news company Cheddar as its first ever Editor in Chief. In this role Mr. Roberts will lead Cheddar’s newsroom and editorial coverage which will include “Cheddar Scoops” a new exclusive news reporting unit that the company is launching. Cheddar Scoops’ first hire is Business Insider’s Alex Heath but he won’t be alone for long. Cheddar is looking to add up to 10 people to the Cheddar Scoops team next year. Both Mr. Roberts and Mr. Heath will start their run at Cheddar before Christmas.
“You will soon see ‘first reported on Cheddar’ everywhere you look,” said Cheddar Founder and CEO Jon Steinberg. “I know the value of a substantive editorial capability, and Jim is the person to bring this to Cheddar and Cheddar Big News. He brings the perfect mix of traditional journalism knowledge and enormous passion and energy. Alex is simply the best scoopster in tech; I’m thrilled to have him invent how news is broken in the Post Cable Network medium.”
