Rodale has lost two potential suitors in Ziff Davis and Bonnier as the Pennsylvania based media company looks to sell itself. Apparently there was some restructuring within Bonnier that saw the closure of Sport Rider magazine and the elimination of some staffers. At Ziff, perhaps company CEO Vivek Shah decided he didn’t like the numbers and opted to not pursue. So these exits from the bidding process leaves other publishers like Meredith, American Media Inc and Hearst in the mix. There is still no official word on whether or not former exec David Zinczenko is currently in the mix. last month it was reported that he was interested in the company and working to put together a team of investors to make a bid. But nothing much has come out of his camp since regarding the effort. The deadline for first round bids was yesterday. No word if any of those bids stood out and what the next step is.
