American Media Inc is still in the process of remaking Men’s Journal into its own image after acquiring the title from Wenner Media last month. To ensure this process goes smoothly, the magazine’s Editor in Chief Mark Healy has exited the publication. American Media Inc has replaced Mr. Healy with gear editor Greg Emmanuel who will now serve as Chief Content Officer for the brand. Perhaps AMI wanted someone familiar with how they do things at the helm because Mr. Emmanuel did a 6 year stint at AMI as deputy editor of Star.
American Media Inc’s name has been popping up in the news lately due to all the sell off happening in the industry. CEO David Pecker has some cash to play with and he is making no secret of it. There was even a recent report that he was still eyeing Time Inc, but many believe that would be steep hill for him to climb. Mr. Pecker also expressed interest in Rodale’s Men’s Health brand. He said he would be pursuing the publication aggressively but so far AMI’s name has not been mentioned as a bidder for Rodale or any of its assets as first round bids are due next week. Prior to buying Men’s Journal from Wenner Media, AMI acquired US Weekly and quickly integrated it into the AMI machine.
