Things are getting in motion with the possible sale of Men’s Health publisher Rodale. The company’s board has set an August 3rd deadline for all interested parties to make their first round offers for the company. One analyst believes the company can probably sell for anywhere between $125 million to $150 million. Possible bidders includee Meredith which is hungry for a deal. Ziff Davis, Hearst, Bonnier and wait for it, Time Inc. yes Time Inc. OK so there is no official word that Time Inc which itself was up for sale a month ago will make a run at Rodale. Some believe its unlikely especially being that Rodale’s digital offerings doesn’t meet Time Inc’s standards. As far as Conde Nast, do we really need to answer that?
American Media Inc CEO David Pecker said last month that he’s going to aggressively pursue Men’s Health. But if he wants to walk away with Rodale’s crown jewel he will have to come up with a mind blowing offer. Rodale vet David Zinczenko was also said to be making a run at the company. But things have been relatively quiet on his end. Bonnier Corp which is mentioned above as a possible bidder, is lead by David Zinczenko’s brother, Eric Zinczenko.
