Its business as usual at health and wellness content company Rodale a week after it announced it was exploring a possible sale. The company has entered a partnership with visual communications company Global Media Group to produce Men’s Health Portugal. The first issue will be the September 2017 edition which will land on newsstands on August 29th.
“Men’s Health Portugal is committed to innovating new content and exciting brand experiences for our audiences,” said Kevin LaBonge, Rodale’s executive director of Business Development and Global Licensing. “Men’s Health has been a part of Portuguese men’s lives since 2001 and our partnership with Global Media Group will allow us to further expand our reach into the digital space while maintaining the standard of editorial excellence our readers have come to expect from us.”
The new partnership follows behind last week’s announcement that Rodale was looking at what the company called “strategic alternatives” including selling off some brands or the entire operation. So far the announcement has generated some interest from American Media Inc CEO David Pecker who said that he would be pursuing Men’s Health aggressively to add to his growing stable of men’s focused brands which now included Men’s Journal which he just acquired from Wenner Media. Others said to be interested in Rodale include Meredith which is hungry for a deal, Hearst and former Rodale executive David Zinczenko who currently owns two former Rodale brands Eat This Not That and BestLife. Men’s Health reaches more than 50 million individuals across 40 editions in 64 countries making it the biggest men’s magazine in the world. This would explain why people like David Pecker would want to get his hands on this brand.
