The Atlantic Continues to Defy Print Downward Trends, With Newsstand And Subscription Surge

TheAtlantic is sending its current issue  (Jan/Feb 2017) with the cover story titled 'My President Was Black' by Ta-Nehisi Coates back to the presses thanks to blowout newsstand sales and a December boom in subscriptions. Newsstand sales jumped almost 15% in 2016, a unicorn in today's climate. Two years ago the magazine saw an even bigger jump in newsstand sales with an almost 30% rise. The magazine will print an additional 40,000 copies of the current issue to fill subscription demands and re-stock newsstands. A nice way to end 2016 and kick off 2017 after being crowned 2016's magazine of the year at the National Magazine Awards.
