Our books for Q3 recently closed and I’m happy to share with you that
revenue is continuing to grow. Bloomberg Media’s total revenue
year-to-date through September is up +8% compared to the same period
last year. As I’ve said before, while many across the industry are
lagging this year, this is something we should all be proud of.

AT&T AND TIMEWARNER TOGETHER?
AT&T is said to be in advanced talks to acquire Time Warner, a deal
that would give the telecom company control of cable channel HBO, the
CNN news network, film studio Warner Bros and other media assets. The
deal. which could be announced as early as Monday,
would be one of the largest in recent years in the sector as telecom
companies look to combine content and distribution capabilities to match
consumer demand for tailored offerings and online delivery.
VR CONTRACTOR JUST HIRED BY TWITTER GOT FIRED OVER DUMB ONLINE RANT
Greg Gopman claims he was fired by Twitter less than a day after news
broke that the company had hired him to start working on virtual reality
efforts. Gopman was embroiled in a 2013 scandal over offensive remarks
he made about the homeless and the subsequent fallout. On Facebook,
Gopman wrote: “Anddd I’m fired. Thanks TechCrunch.”
360 PHOTOS AND VIDEOS COMING TO FACEBOOK INSTANT ARTICLES
Facebook’s Instant Articles are about to get more interactive. The
social network announced that these articles will now support 360 videos
and photos — meaning, publishers can include 360 content in-line, which
users can then navigate by turning their mobile device, or tapping and
VOX MEDIA IS WORKING ON A TV PROJECT
Vox Media has plans to bring one of its web video stars to television.
The digital publisher is in advanced talks with a cable entertainment
network for a TV special next year starring Liz Plank, who joined
Vox.com earlier this year to launch comedic election web series
“2016ish.” Plank, 29, is a regular presence on MSNBC and previously
worked at millennial-geared publisher Mic.

USA Today Network debuted a first-of-its kind weekly virtual reality
news show, inviting viewers to soar in 360-degrees at a hot-air balloon
festival in New Mexico and to join high-liners above Arizona’s canyons.
Called “VRtually There” and co-produced with YouTube, the show’s initial
content is targeted towards action.
