Playboy's Clothes On Strategy is Paying Off on Newsstands But...

So contrary to what Cooper Hefner, son of Playboy's founder Hugh Hefner said about the magazine going to hell, the fully clothed strategy put in place by former CEO Scott Flanders is paying off for the magazine on newsstands. However, that's where the good news ends. Paid subscriptions has dropped a massive 22 percent but a spox for the publication says all is well and everything is going as planned. Wonder how big a role Cooper Hefner will play in attracting younger male readers now that he's the company's new Chief Creative Officer, and if he still thinks the magazine is going to hell for covering up?
“When we launched the new version of Playboy magazine with our March 2016 issue, we had anticipated that some longtime subscribers would not be happy with the new direction of the magazine, so we took our ad rate base down to 500,000 [from 550,000] at the beginning of the year in anticipation of this trend,”
