Spin Media which has been in a downward spiral for sometime now announced about a month ago that it was putting itself on the block. No one really knew what that meant as far as how the company would proceed. Would it shop itself as a whole or sell off its websites one by one or group by group. Well now its all coming into focus as the company has unloaded three of its entertainment websites, Idolator, Buzznet and PureVolume. The sites were acquired by Hive Media which was launched last year.
Hive Media is essentially brand-new: Its three new acquisitions are the only three brands it touts on its own site. The company was founded last year “by a bunch of people who love the boundless connectivity of the internet,” Levin wrote in an email to Billboard, a group that he said includes mostly Americans and Isrealis (Levin himself was born in Germany). The company will focus on entertainment, especially music, he added.
