Les Moonves crosses the border to score new drama for CBS

Published: Wednesday, January 30, 2008

-SDH

With the writers strike still in affect, media execs are forced to actually work and be creative in finding new ways to keep their ships above water. The latest exec to get all creative is non other than CBS shot caller Les "Love Boat" Moonves. With no writers to come up with new shit for CBS, Les did what any desperate soul would do and crossed the border to Canada in search of what he hopes will be a hit for CBS. "Flashpoint" a police drama will be broadcasted later this year on CBS. The whole strike thing seems to be a wait and see stand off between media bigs and writers. Each side wants to see who will cave first. Media execs will do anything to show the writers, they can go on without them. Wonder how they feel about this move?

"Flashpoint," which will begin shooting in Toronto in April, was originally developed by CTV and Toronto-based Pink Sky Entertainment.

The show is about a big-city police department's "strategic response unit," similar to a special weapons and tactics, or SWAT, team in the United States.
