CBS boots CSTV founders, takes full control

Published: Friday, January 04, 2008

-YOSH

CBS does the expected and takes full control of CSTV the college sports media company it acquired in late 2005. Apparently the founders who stayed on since the acquisition did what CBS wanted them to do and now their time is up. Les Moonves wants to now flood the CSTV operations with CBS-ers. CBS-er Tony Petitti will head CSTV while Sean McManus, President of CBS News & Sports watches his every move.

“We’ve doubled our subscribers, revenue is up, but it’s still not a profitable operation, but we didn’t intend that until Year 3,” said Leslie Moonves, the president and chief executive of CBS. “They’ve done a good job, and we’re happy with the acquisition. Brian knew we wanted this, and it became a question of the right time.”
