Music Wire: Roger Ames will be named CEO of EMI Recorded Music???
Published: Monday, January 15, 2007
It looks like our dreams for EMI will come through. According to a comment posted by a Paul Wientrab of the Chicago Tribune in response to our article this morning titled "Eric Nicoli pack your shit and follow Alain Levy and David Munns out the door" However we are not sure how accurate this is.EMI will hire Roger Ames on Thursday.Eric Nicoli met with Roger Ames today to offer him the CEO spot at EMI Recorded music. Roger however has problems with living in the United States and is considering the offer. Andy Slater of Capital Records is rumored be fired next Thursday and Jason FLom will take over his responsibilities.Alain Levy and David Munns have been approaching Private Equity firms to get funding to buyout EMI for $2.4 Billion and then oust Eric (their Ouster) Nicoli. The payouts for Levy and Munns is not much considering how much they pillaged the company with their lavish lifestyle and expenses charged to the company. Sounds good to us. |

post a commentNot sure if Roger Ames would take this position. It has failure written all over it. Also, do not forget that Bronfman fired Ames and if EMI wants Warner to make an offer this summer, then would Bronfman want to negotiate with Ames?
What About Flom? Would he be suitable? If Nicoli runs the show out of London, then he certainly needs someone in the US running the show.
The stories out there are that Nicoli fired Levy and Munns, due to the Board saying "Eric, what are you going to do about this? Norah's release is late. Joss Stone's release is late, and earnings are below expectations." Eric said, "I will fire Alain and David." THey said, then who will run the show? He said I can turn this around better than they can. They then said "OK, its yours." He didn't expect that. Now he has to find someone to help him turn it around.
It takes 15 monts to develop an artist. Corrine Baily Rae and KT Tunstall are still in development and it will take another 12 months. There is nothing that can be done in 2007 that will groom EMI for a sale.
