Published: Sunday, November 12, 2006
According to published reports things are about to get nasty for the battle of the LA Times. The three money bags who have their eye on the paper are David Geffen, Ron Burkle and Eli Broad. However David Geffen is yet to make a serious move while Broad and Burkle decided to join forces to take the whole cake, meaning LA Times parent Tribune Co. However if team Broad Burkle were to win in taking the cake they would sell off all assets except the LA Times. Since Geffen has yet to make a serious move except have lunch with some of the paper's top brass, will he opt to join team Broad,Burkle making it team Broad,Burkle,Geffen?![]() Geffen, who has feuded with Broad for years, has not submitted a bid but is known to be extremely interested in the Times and could seek financing for the estimated $15 billion or more it might take to purchase Tribune Co. to get it. Better get on in David, money talks and bullshit luncheons with journalists walk Billionaires set to fight over L.A Times [AP] Labels: DavidGeffen, LATimes, WeekendWire |
