Morning Wire: Paula Redstone pulled the trigger on Tom Cruise and more.....

Published: Tuesday, October 31, 2006

And now the mornings worthy media news:

Paula Redstone hates Tom Cruise
After all is said and done, it was Paula Redstone, wife of Sumner who pulled the trigger on Tom Cruise. Gandpa Sumner tells it like it is in the December issue of Vanity Fair and man is he still ripping Tom Cruise a new ass hole. "Paula, like women everywhere, had come to hate him. The truth of the matter is, I did listen to her . . ." Redstone says. "His behavior was entirely unacceptable to Paula and to the rest of the world. He just didn't turn one [woman] off. He turned off all women, and a lot of men." With all the money Tom Cruise allegedly cost Paramount Pictures, is there a lawsuit brewing?

Entertainment & Politics
Is it a coincidence that some of the major organizations in the entertainment/media industry are ran by former underlings of past administrations? No matter what next week's election brings, Dan Glickman, chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Assn. of America (MPAA), said he hopes to expand the major studios' agenda beyond the House and Senate Judiciary and Commerce committees. He plans to mount a push in the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee; because all revenue bills are constitutionally required to begin in the House, that panel is key.

Again.....Start a rumor, pretend, and get some leg room to recover
We've been saying that this is the new norm in media when execs want to generate interest, spike the stock price of their companies or to simply get shareholders and people like Carl Icahn off their asses. They either pretend to be in talks to merge with, or buy another company. Or they pretend to put themselves on the block like Tribune in this case..Allegedly. " As circulation at Tribune Co.'s biggest newspapers continues to nose dive, some Wall Street bankers are wondering whether the media giant and owner of the Chicago Cubs is serious about selling itself in the first place."
