According to the very stealthy New York Daily News Lloyd Grove "Lowdown" column Newscorp topper Rupert Murdoch and his wife Wendy had dinner with rival media couple Tom Freston and his wife Kathy. Grove asks: Why were the rival media moguls and their wives - sharing their meal onstage, as it were, at Cipriani Downtown, where fellow diners were bound to notice them and leak their presence to a gossip column? And what movie did the foursome enjoy before dinner in the private screening room of the Murdochs' Fifth Ave. palace? Hmmmm what in the world could be in the works here??
